The WhistlePig distillery was founded in 2007 on an acquired farm and officially opened in 2015 after extensive remodelling work. Master Distiller Dave Pickerell developed customised copper stills especially for the distillery, which are now in continuous operation seven days a week.
This 12-year-old rye whiskey combines the best of both worlds: the powerful and characterful nature of American rye with the elegance and grace typical of an 18-year-old Scotch.
The composition of this whiskey is based on a careful selection of whiskeys, which are first matured in new American oak casks. They then undergo a refined post-maturing process in a unique combination of port wine casks (7%), French Sauternes casks (30%) and Madeira casks (63%).
This carefully selected combination of maturation gives the whiskey an exceptional depth and complexity that makes it both bold and refined.
